You Got All You Could Ever Need – Yet …
What if there is a kind of impoverishment amidst the wealth you enjoy?
Heads up, this will change how you view the world. That phrase “blessed be the poor”? If that’s a blessing you prefer, on the topic that this post touches on, do not read on. Imagine boarding a flight or taking the train instead of walking; this is like that. You might miss the birds cheeping as you put one foot in front of the other. Expect to let go of the TV too; you’ll be too busy making positive changes, to waste time on ideological fixery.
Wrongfulness
What is something you do that is deemed or feels wrong? Can you spot a light therein? Farmers kill calves, destined for a life of being unable to stand on their legs, stuffed with drugs and repeatedly reproduced. Unpopular lesser addictive habits, can be desperate attempts at averting a vile and far worse flows of fate. Policemen walk up to a group of youngsters ‘hanging out’ – they get to vent, while things going too far in the opposite direction, is a risk that can be mitigated.
Strange as it may sound, that is the crux of ethics – a kind of economic approach. Often, working with a “bigger picture”, an ethical endeavor comes with a veiled personal benefit, it can neither be seen nor fathomed. Yet over and over again, it turns out to be beneficial. And just as with money, there are different depths of pockets; it is a simple skill to begin accumulating – and some people just are better at making choices that yield a higher ROI for it all, and themselves. It can be easier for you too; read on.
Participation
Ethics is very much like making contributions to a household. Outside is the local community, then society and beyond that a variety of layered reality. Practicing ethics, very simply puts you in sync with it all, lowering resistance on your being. This invites demand, for you to continue on. Suddenly you’re a desirable presence – someone you want to keep around at the office. And look at you, you’re still alive – otherwise, how would you be reading this? Of course, it is important to note that ethics, as anything else, are misused. I like to call it the darkness of the light. It is a nasty habit, oft involving a behavior that is veils misdeeds like wearing a camouflaging umbrella, making the vile look decent.
Being careful to not rely excessively on ethics for personal continuation, traction, well-being etc. is basically business 101. In this case, the temptation to misuse it increases, as a means of forcing demand for personal continuation – at times sacrificing others capacity for ethics. It may seem like a risk to write this; I’m writing this on a blog, part of a business-endeavor, assisting lives with making transitions against payments. What if I turn into a target for the unveiling?! However it’s a catch22 – being direct and upfront about the risk; highlighting it, actually eases avoiding mistakes and errors. It’s not about courage, it’s commonly known as “taking a risk”.
The Fundamentals
Think about this
-
Why do you live? For yourself – or out of fear of dying?
-
Why are you “selfish”? Is it to get positive pleasure GPS-like signals?
-
Do you continue on, because some unfolding of fate relies on you to live? Or is it because other lives depend on what you do?
Usually a life will find they need to live up to responsibilities, such as avoiding negative impact upon themselves, that in turn impacts others negatively.
Think about basic business skills. These are time-tested, and withstood scrutiny for millennia – despite the imperfection. This, and that smart method may exist – but in the end the fundamentals of making money are much the same as they always were. It is largely the same with ethics; there are some basic recipes – which includes known error-pathways that lead to “fake money”.
Note that false ethics can be predatory, highlighting how the majority of ethical endeavors rely on a lot of infrastructure, consumption and senseless violation of others – veiled, hidden, excused or far away. Think about it – how are you able to be nice to others? ‘Cause you don’t need rob, kill and steal to protect your younger siblings from being raped, plundered and violated. It may be a good idea to meet personal capacity for ethical ways with humility, instead of claiming purity and bragging with how considerate you are.
At one point, I went through an extremely dark phase of the life I lived so far. Building on an already low sense of self-worth, I was completely smashed – and in compensating I began claiming identification with some ethical label. It tasted bad, but it was survival – prior to that – and since – I tend to describe how I am “orientated” towards this way of life; acknowledging that it is unfinished business. By that, avoiding incidentally misusing the light, compassion and care received by highlighting the label. Think about it like this; anyone will break if you push them (far enough is one dimension) – and it can do a lot of harm. Avoiding that harm is a great ethical reason to self-care.
Note that writing like this in public generally is a bad idea – it requires a capacity to do so safely, and even then it’s a stretch.
Once you get into the ethics, it’s actually pretty easy. There are a few keys: Staying wholesome, avoiding falling for temptations – reaching safe plateaus before the journey continues. As with any build-up, situations do arise… personal energy skyrockets, health oft improves and the gender-of-choice tend to be … with a desire to support what you do. A tip; invested inaction oft produces greater results than more more more action. The great thing is, that the deeper you go, the more likely you are to make better choices.
Easing the Effort
The support for the effort is seldom lacking; you pay with your time, effort, energy, attention and the complications of adapting. Of course, how you change may invite resistance, or be considered more-so desirable by some.
Amidst all that, try remembering that receiving the capacity to make the change is a grace – and that it may not be from anyone in particular. I mean, how can I write this to begin with? Crediting is an endeavor that comes with expenses, I think are underestimated too often. I mean, what lives were sacrificed for those you credit to support you in the process – and whom contributed that go unmentioned? I personally try to avoid attaching my identity to what I do, instead of adding crediting. God made it possible for me to write this, that gotta be the answer..
Start making Better Choices this very moment. The blog-posts are a product of the journeys I went on; mapping out pathways, options and wisdom. These are intended to make it easy for you to figure out what is next for you, and what that is, I personally think, is entirely dependent on you as an individual. The recommendation thus made, is to skim the titles, and check out posts that resonate with you. It is there for now, there is no promise that these posts will stay live forever – I tend to delete things after a while.
